My dog Molly, being cute while we’re at work.

No link love today! I know, so sad. Mostly because I haven’t had any time to read blogs this week. Between being sick with the cold from hell, trying to get back into a routine, and dealing with travel induced exhaustion, I haven’t had much time to do anything! So instead I thought I would write a little life update, letting you guys know what I’ve been up to lately. You’re just dying to know right?

The Wedding

Wedding planning is in full swing! I’ve got my wedding budget in place, I’m dedicating a bit of time in the evenings to getting things done, and I’m amazed every day by the generosity of the people around me. Since I’m trying to get out of debt, and my fiancé is still in early start up stages of his new business, we decided not to spend a lot of money on the wedding. So, we’re trying to DIY and delegate as much as possible to friends and family. Boy have people come through on this one! Whether it’s accepting our request to be the primary photographer on the day of or donating materials, people just keep finding ways to help us save money without sacrificing the quality of the event. I’m planning on writing a bigger post later on exactly how we’re going to be saving all this money, and I’ll probably post a budget breakdown post-wedding.

The Half Marathon Training

I’ve got to say, I’ve been having a hard time with half marathon training. First, it was being away for two weeks. That threw my schedule off and I was forced to miss a bunch of runs. Then, I got super sick with a bad cold. I had to take Monday and part of Tuesday of this week, so needless to say, I wasn’t running. Now though, I think I’m back on track. I haven’t missed a single run this week, and even though I’m tired, I think I’ll be able to complete my 9k long run this weekend without too much trouble. Running is taking up a lot of my time, and it’s only going to get worse as my runs get longer. Right now I’m able to run at lunch time, but once the distances exceed 5k on a week day, I’ll probably have to switch to after work. I don’t mind though, I’m finally getting into the zone with my running, where every step isn’t difficult, and I can appreciate being fit and healthy and full of energy.

Everything Else

Blogging has seemed to take up a greater presence in my life since Christmas. Maybe it’s the increase in the site popularity, or the new layout, I’m not quite sure. I do know that between blogging every night, running, planning the wedding, and finding time for my dog and my fiancé, I’m pretty burnt out. I know that something is going to have change, and this weekend I plan on sitting down and figuring out how I can manage all of these forces in my life. I’m certain I can do it, it’ll just take some crafty time management and a commitment to productivity.

Have you ever felt a little overwhelmed and maybe over worked? What did you do to combat this? I thought my vacation and business trip would help. While it was lovely to get away for awhile, I still feel very rushed and scheduled. All of the things that are taking up time in my life are really important to me, and I don’t want to give any up, but I can’t see being this busy sustainable. Some people can be on their feet all of the time, but I’m not one of them. I love my down time. Fortunately, I’m not going to be this busy forever. In four short months, both my wedding and my half marathon will be over, and I’ll have a lot more free time. Until then though, I’m going full speed all day, every day.
